Buying Website/domain Name?
Hi, I have some questions!
I am a complete newbie at the whole buying a website and a domain name thing.. but I really want to do it. I realize after some research that a domain name is needed and a website is needed separately. What I don’t understand is well..much of anything else..haha. I was looking at godaddy.com and seen that I could purchase the .com domain I am wanting, but will they allow me to build a website or do I have to go somewhere else to do that separately? Is godaddy.com a good place? I saw that a lot of people liked it here on yahoo answers so I checked it out. Also..on my website I want to sell things, do I need to purchase the extra button they were selling on godaddy, and if I don’t, will I not be able to accept paypal from people? Any help, tips would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance
You have many questions and a clear list would be easier to reply to.
Here is my take on some of your questions:
- You can get any domain registered, as long as it is free. Nobody can tell you after that what services you want to provide on your site. It can be flowers, cars, games or even porn. It’s all up to you what you want to with the name. I don’t think you need to buy any extra buttons etc.
I myself use joker.com for my domains. Godaddy is very popular and good too.
- Service provider is someone who rents or sells you a place to put your pages on. It’s a whole new matter of discussion, and unfortunately I don’t have any short answer to it. After you have got a place to put the pages, you tell Godaddy to redirect traffic to your server IP address.
- Accepting Paypal is unrelated to a domain name. You create the money payment button inside Paypal.com when you login. There is more info from their help files. When you have your HTML code for the button, you just add it to your webpage.
