Buying A Website Domain Name Help Please?

Is it possible to simply buy the domain name so it can’t be taken, but leave it for a few months to actually get the website for it?
And if you own a domain name, can the web designer give you the website for it with your permission or whatever?
And finally, whats the cheapest way of going about doing this?

when you buy a domain name you only own it for the period you paid for between 1 year and 10 years and once you pay its your for the period you choose, you then renew when that period ends if you want to
the domain name should cost about $7.99 per year if you look around I buy mine via http://globedomains.com
you will also need hosting I use the above and http://www.hosting24.com/
heres two coupon codes for hosting24: SAVE-$24 or SAVE-$2-EVERY-MONTH you can pay yearly or monthly
if your going to use a website designer they would normaly charge less if you use there hosting
consider using wordpress there are thousands of free themes (templates) both hosts above have easy install for wordpress a couple of clicks and it’s installed.
host through http://3website.co.uk and they will install wordpress free of charge

    1) Yes, it’s called parking. Some hosts offer this at an additional fee
    2) What are you asking? If you purchase the domain name, you own it. You employ a webdesigner to create a website for you, and you give him appropriate logon information, then revoke his access afterwards.
    3) Buy a domain and hosting. Find whatever host suits your needs for bandwidth, storage, and ecommerce options. I found FatCow will park a domain for you for $5/yr, and then you can switch into their $5-10 (depending on discounts you find) hosting when you’re ready to actually use your domain name.http://www.fatcow.com/fatcow/minimoo.bml
If you hire a web designer to get the domain name for you, you have to be sure he fills the site registration out in your name, otherwise you technically don’t own it. That’d be a contract thing. Also, hiring a web designer to do domain purchasing + hosting + design will cost you more than you doing the first 2 and a web designer doing the 3rd.
    I personally use hosting24 http://www.hosting24.com/page/1413?featu…
It’s a bit cheaper than FatCow and offers the same/similar features. I found it was also a bit more explicit in which features it offered. I’m much happier with it than HostGator, which was $10 a month for the same features as hosting24. I also got responses from hosting24 faster than HostGator.

tuaamin knows what s/he’s talking about. (You’re using “website” to mean both the server it runs on and the pages running on it. a designer will give you the software, you should buy hosting yourself, and not from the same company you buy the domain name from.)
Oh, and the information on http://www.tenhostingreviews.com is incorrect. Go to the hosting sites themselves and see what the prices and plans are for yourself.
There are three other things to look at besides price.
    1) Speed. A slow site isn’t that great, even if it’s cheap.
    2) Uptime. If the site’s not almost always there, it’s not worth the price.
    3) Tech support. Call and ask questions. If they won’t help you to get your business, they sure won’t when they have you locked into a 3 year contract.

Yes, you can buy just the domain name, and later on add hosting to it in order to have a website.
The cheapest domain name registrar is Godaddy. They are also the largest domain name registrar. Their standard price is $10.69 but you can get it for $7.49 if you use the promo link (like the one from http://www.webhostingtable.com ).

to answer your question yes you can buy a domain name but i don’t really think the web designer can give you the website and find the cheapest website or you can just make your own free website without a domain
